Self Care Embroidery Workshop for Survivors
December 1 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Come and learn a tool for self care and create something uniquely your own while you’re at it in our introductory embroidery workshop for survivors. All experience levels welcome! Learn how to transfer your ideas from paper to fabric, basic embroidery stitches, and create your own personalized embroidery hoop with local embroidery artist, JayTee Barbour. Bring in your own ideas or choose from pre-made templates. All materials will be provided and everyone will take home their project, some extra thread and needles*, and a stitch instruction packet** for later reference. This workshop is provided free of charge.
JayTee is a local embroidery portrait artist who blends activism with craft arts, and a volunteer advocate with STAR. Her portraits vary in subject but largely focus on celebrating female leaders, thinkers, and revolutionaries, with a special interest in the ones left out of history books.
